Our history

With more than 140 years of tradition, Paolo Castelli. is a leader in product design and global contracting internationally. Heir to a long family history, the company represents one of the best expressions of Made in Italy, combining craftsmanship with innovative industrial processes. Thanks to a well-established network of artisans and a continuous search for excellence, Paolo Castelli creates unique furniture solutions designed for private residences, large contract projects and prestigious international collaborations.

1887

Ettore Castelli opened a cabinetmaker's store in Bologna, inaugurating not just a workshop, but the art of a “savoir faire” that has spanned a century.

Anni '70

The cabinetmaker's shop transformed into Anonima Castelli, which created and developed the Plia chair, an icon of the evolution from artisan workshop to large industrial company. Modular, a Castelli Group company, is born.

Anni '90

Paolo Castelli became CEO of Modular and later acquired Domodinamica, a collection of icons that have made design history.

Anni 2000

The company enriches its collections and starts turnkey supply management for international projects.

Anni 2010

Dalla fusione di Modular e Domodinamica nasce Paolo Castelli, marchio di design, product design e grandi progetti come general contractor. Nel 2014 apre il primo showroom a Milano, seguito da uno a Parigi nel 2018.

Anni 2020

Launched Green Kiss, an ecological capsule in collaboration with French designers Hubert de Malherbe and Thierry Lamaire, and created for Istituzione Bologna Musei the poetic collection Oggetti d'Autore: Omaggio a Morandi.

2023

Paolo Castelli presenta Alla Sera, testimoniando l’abilità dell’Azienda nell’offrire un ampio catalogo di arredi per la zona giorno e la zona notte.

2024

Paolo Castelli presenta Acquerello, un’ode al delicato dialogo tra forma e colore e alla pura libertà espressiva. La collezione include arredi indoor, outdoor e sistemi d’illuminazione, disegnati per tracciare un’idea di bellezza attraverso un racconto fatto di segni, oggetti, simboli e rituali semplici.

2025

Paolo Castelli presenta le sue novità durante il Fuori Salone 2025 nel suo showroom in Brera a Milano.
