Our Story

With over 140 years of tradition, Paolo Castelli. is a leader in product design and global contracting internationally. Heir to a long family history, the company represents one of the best expressions of Made in Italy, combining craftsmanship with innovative industrial processes. Thanks to a well-established network of artisans and a continuous search for excellence, Paolo Castelli creates unique furniture solutions designed for private residences, large contract projects and prestigious international collaborations.

1887

Ettore Castelli opened a cabinetmaking workshop in Bologna, inaugurating not only a shop but also an art of craftsmanship that has spanned a century.

The 1970s

The cabinetmaking workshop became Anonima Castelli, which created and developed the Plia chair, a symbol of the evolution from a small artisan workshop to a large industrial company. Modular, a company of the Castelli Group, is launched.

The '90s

Paolo Castelli became CEO of Modular and subsequently acquired Domodinamica, a collection of iconic pieces that have shaped the history of design.

The 2000s

The company is expanding its collections and launching “turnkey” supply management services for international projects.

2010s

The merger of Modular and Domodinamica gave rise to Paolo Castelli, a brand specializing in design, product design, and large-scale projects as a general contractor. In 2014, the company opened its first showroom in Milan, followed by one in Paris in 2018.

2020s

Green Kiss is launched—an eco-friendly capsule collection created in collaboration with French designers Hubert de Malherbe and Thierry Lamaire—and creates the poetic collection *Oggetti d’Autore: Omaggio a Morandi* for Istituzione Bologna Musei.

2023

Paolo Castelli presents *Alla Sera*, showcasing the company’s ability to offer a wide range of furniture for the living and sleeping areas.

2024

Paolo Castelli presents *Acquerello*, an ode to the delicate interplay between form and color and to pure expressive freedom. The collection includes indoor and outdoor furniture and lighting systems, designed to convey a vision of beauty through a narrative composed of signs, objects, symbols, and simple rituals.

2025

Paolo Castelli will present his new collections during Fuori Salone 2025 at his showroom in Brera, Milan.

2026

On the occasion of Milan Design Week 2026, Paolo Castelli® presents CHRYSALIS.
