The federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) is a federal company inside the U.S. Division of Justice that’s accountable for the custody and care of federal inmates. In 2025, the BOP will likely be implementing a pay increase for its staff. This pay increase is a component of a bigger effort to recruit and retain certified workers and to make sure that the BOP is ready to present a protected and safe atmosphere for its inmates.
The pay increase will likely be applied in two phases. The primary part will take impact in January 2025 and can present a 2.6% pay improve for all BOP staff. The second part will take impact in January 2026 and can present an extra 2.2% pay improve. This pay increase would be the first important pay improve for BOP staff in a number of years.
